Job description

Purpose: To assist Spanish speaking survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, human trafficking, their families and friends through supportive services and advocacy while encouraging social change through awareness and education., 1. Responsible for providing advocacy services to program participants including but not limited to individualized safety planning, assessment of safety needs including protection orders and shelter assessments for adults and their children, supportive services, referrals, parenting and life skills information, emergency assistance, etc.

  1. Responsible for creating a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery.

  2. Responsible for answering the crisis hotline and completing required documentation.

  3. Responsible for providing appropriate information regarding Crime Victim’s compensation and victim rights to victims being served.

  4. Responsible for advocating on behalf of Spanish speaking survivors within systems.

  5. Responsible for creating a positive cultural environment of effective communication and teamwork throughout the agency where employees and volunteers find support, guidance, and successful opportunities to contribute.

  6. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served to assist survivors.

  7. Responsible for networking with medical professionals, court officers, school personnel, law enforcement, clergy and other professionals to encourage referrals.

  8. Responsible for publicizing available services, educating referral sources, and increasing service utilization within the Latino communities.

  9. Responsible for documenting all information regarding services as required by policy and procedure.

  10. Responsible for maintaining and building new partnerships within counties we serve.

  11. Responsible for understanding and teaching Safe Dates and Safer, Smarter Teens curriculums to middle/high school students as needed.

  12. Responsible for responding to on-scene crisis with law enforcement present.

  13. Responsible for providing advocacy during Sexual Assault Nurse Exams (SANE).

  14. Responsible for helping to plan and work outreach events in Edwards and Stafford County.

  15. Responsible for attending and participating in assigned agency meetings.

  16. Responsible for other duties as designated by the DSVC Program Director.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Employee relationship building?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, · Higher education preferred. High school degree or GED equivalent required.

· Experience in domestic violence or sexual assault field, volunteer experience, or related experience is suggested.

· Clear understanding of confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently and as a team.

· Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking issues and trends.

· Acknowledge personal trauma and the response to triggers surrounding trauma.

· Ability to communicate the English and Spanish language in both oral and written form.

· Knowledge of service area resources preferred.

· Knowledge of computer/internet programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Apps.

· Express commitment to the empowerment of women and children.

· Experience working with diverse people and groups.

· Experience maintaining personal/professional boundaries and managing stress constructively.

· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.

· Manage and resolve conflict.

· Excellent initiative, integrity and strong sense of professionalism.

· Possess valid Kansas driver’s license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation, & proof of current liability insurance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, audibly, and quickly.

· Hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

· Manual dexterity and able to use wrists, hands and/or fingers in repetitive motion.

· Prepare and/or inspect documents and communications on computer or on paper.

· Sitting for extended periods of time.

· Bending, lifting, and carrying up to 40 pounds (donations/commodities).
