Job description

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Data Analyst 3 in the Technology Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborates directly with customers to support and deliver complex analytical projects;
  • Performs detailed analysis and interpretation of data;
  • Reviews data sources and evaluates reports prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness;
  • Oversees the development of informational materials and documentation related to analytics solutions;
  • Evaluates current and proposed systems and processes, recommending improvements as needed;
  • Supervises and provides guidance to a team of Data Analysts;
  • Partners with the data warehouse team to ensure accurate data mapping that meets customer reporting requirements;
  • Works with the Data Architect to develop strategies and direction aligned with the division’s strategic plan;
  • Coordinates with the Data Governance team to maintain accuracy, consistency, and standardization across datasets; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Supervising experience?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, One year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 2 Or nine years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools, of which two years must have been at a supervisory level.

  • Substitution: Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; J.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for seven years of specialized experience.

Benefits & conditions

Salary: The starting salary for this position is $106,898 with periodic increases up to $131,665

Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.
