Job description

  • System Support: Provide top-notch technical support to clients by responding to inquiries, troubleshooting system issues, and resolving problems swiftly to minimise downtime.
  • Site-Based Work: Attend client sites across the UK to carry out installations, commissioning, fault finding, and system recovery.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, system audits, and preventive maintenance to ensure the seamless operation and reliability of control systems.
  • Fault Finding and Diagnostics: Utilise advanced troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex system faults effectively.
  • System Optimisation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system modifications, upgrades, and enhancements, boosting performance and functionality.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Training and Support: Deliver on-site training and support to end-users and maintenance teams.

Working Pattern & Travel Requirements:

  • Based at our client’s HQ in Derbyshire, with regular travel to customer sites nationwide
  • Frequent overnight stays required (expenses covered)
  • Night shifts and out-of-hours work will be required, particularly during commissioning, shutdowns, and critical upgrades
  • Standard 40-hour working week with flexible hours
  • Early finish on Fridays
  • Participation in an on-call rota following probation/training
  • This role would suit someone who is flexible, comfortable working away from home, and able to adapt to varying site schedules.

Requirements

Do you have technical support experience for control systems? Are you proficient in PLC programming languages and familiar with SCADA and HMI design?

Rise10 are working with a specialised engineering company focused on the integration, control, and automation of complex infrastructure.

This is a hands-on, field-based role that will involve extensive travel across the UK, frequent overnight stays, and participation in night shift work when required. If you enjoy working on-site, solving problems in live environments, and don’t mind being away from home regularly, this could be the perfect opportunity.

  • Previous technical support experience for control systems or similar
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g. ladder logic, structured text)
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and HMI design
  • Knowledge of control system protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
