Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional front desk presence.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and collections.
- Collect and process patient payments, perform medical collections when necessary, and handle billing inquiries with clarity and professionalism.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide information.
- Maintain organized medical records by filing documents correctly and reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including updating medical histories and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clinical staff by reviewing care plans, coordinating patient flow, and managing appointment reminders.
- Use computer skills to update patient information in EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix while maintaining confidentiality of health information.
- Perform clerical tasks including data entry, typing reports, and managing office supplies to ensure an efficient front desk operation.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Multi-line phone systems?, * Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and scheduling.
- Familiarity with insurance verification procedures including Medicare and Medicaid processes.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong typing (10-key) skills for accurate data entry.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, filing systems, and appointment schedules.
