Job description

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical collections to ensure timely payments
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and multi-line phone systems
  • Manage patient records by filing, updating, and reviewing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating care plans using EMR systems like Dentrix
  • Answer multi-line phones professionally, providing clear communication and information to patients and providers
  • Support billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare requirements for accurate medical billing and documentation review

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Dentrix, curve or similar practice management software
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, and health information management standards such as HIPAA
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
  • Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office management tasks
  • Ability to navigate EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks confidently
  • Familiarity with dental terminology or dental office experience is a plus for clinics in that specialty
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and insurance verification processes
