Job description

At VEC Inc., we rely on our IT systems to help our business succeed. We’re seeking an entry level junior network administrator who works as part of a team to ensure an organization’s computer network is performing optimally. From early on, you’ll be given challenging assignments, support lead initiatives, and take ownership and responsibility. And, you’ll receive training to help you become a leader in your field. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about applying their skills to meet and exceed expectations.

Objectives of this Role

  • Installing and configuring hardware and equipment: This includes routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and workstations.
  • Configuring servers and workstations: This includes connecting them to the LAN and the internet.
  • Troubleshooting connectivity issues: This includes diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with PCs, software, and communications devices.
  • Updating and upgrading components: This includes applying patches, updates, and backups.
  • Maintaining network security protocols and access controls: This may include managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Providing technical support to end users: This may include responding to requests for assistance within established procedures.
  • Collaborating with senior administrators: This may include working with network engineers and telecommunications systems.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Customer communication?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Communicate with senior network administrators, managers, vendors, and other stakeholders about network status, issues, and solutions.

  • Have good organizational, writing, and presentation skills, as well as the attention to detail and accuracy to keep track of network data and information.
  • Able to communicate clearly and in a professional manner, with the team and with the customer
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs, * High school diploma or equivalent, and some post-secondary education or training in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Some work experience in IT support or help desk roles
  • 0-2 years of experience
