Job description

Palo Alto Networks runs a large hybrid infrastructure across multiple public clouds. As a Site Reliability Engineer on the Internet Security Platform team, you will be part of a team supporting Advanced DNS Security services. This includes automation, architecture, performance, metrics, troubleshooting, security, and reliability.

Our stack includes Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Vault, GitLab CI, OpenTelemetry, and more. We don’t expect you to know all of these, but we do expect you to learn the ones needed for this role.

Your Impact

  • Build internal platforms, frameworks, and tools that improve team productivity and system efficiency
  • Design, build, and operate reliable, secure cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure that applications are production-ready, scalable, and reliable
  • Orchestrate end-to-end monitoring and alerting
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Lead root cause analysis of critical business and production issues
  • Drive technical direction and collaborate across teams
  • Participate in design reviews

Requirements

Do you have experience in System troubleshooting?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Your Experience

  • BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years of experience
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, networking, and Linux internals
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for distributed systems and network issues
  • Experience in container orchestration and Kubernetes
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS and GCP)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm, etc.)
  • Capable of automating tasks with Python, shell scripting, or Go
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, ArgoCD)
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex distributed systems
  • Experience with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Chronosphere, etc.)
  • Experience with secrets management (Vault)
  • Familiarity with CNCF ecosystem and projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Experience

  • Experience integrating AI tools (Claude, etc.) to boost DevOps productivity, automate infrastructure, or improve developer experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes-native infrastructure management (Crossplane, Config Connector, etc.)
  • Experience with DNS infrastructure or network security
  • Security domain knowledge
  • Experience with large-scale NoSQL databases (ScyllaDB, AWS DynamoDB, GCP Bigtable)

Benefits & conditions

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
