Job description

About the Role: We are seeking a highly specialized VoIP & SIP Infrastructure Engineer to support live, mission-critical communications routing platforms used in large-scale emergency response and public safety networks across North America.

Please note: This is a specialized telecom networking and core signaling role, not a general Linux systems administration or IT helpdesk position. Live production experience troubleshooting core SIP telephony traffic is strictly required.

You will be part of an elite technical team responsible for analyzing live signaling traffic, capturing network packets, troubleshooting production VoIP platform issues, and partnering directly with customer engineering teams to ensure 100% uptime for life-safety communications services.

What You’ll Be Doing:

· Core VoIP & SIP Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex signaling, routing, and call-flow issues across live production platforms.

· Packet Analysis: Perform deep-dive packet captures using Wireshark to analyze network behavior, logs, and protocol compliance.

· Infrastructure Support: Maintain platform availability within VMware/vSphere environments, interacting with the underlying Linux command line to isolate application-layer telecom issues.

· Production Operations: Author Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation, implement production upgrades, and deploy critical software changes during maintenance windows.

· Engineering Collaboration: Function as a primary technical contact for external carrier and customer engineering teams, as well as internal development groups.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireshark?, · SIP & VoIP Production Experience (REQUIRED): Deep understanding of SIP signaling, protocol methods, call flows, and VoIP telephony architectures.

· Packet Capture Expertise: Hands-on proficiency with Wireshark or similar packet analysis tools for troubleshooting real-time media and signaling streams.

· Command-Line Familiarity: Comfort navigating Linux directories and using command-line tools specifically for log analysis and process monitoring (e.g., grepping telecom logs).

· Virtualization: Practical experience operating within a live, production-level VMware / vSphere infrastructure.

· Work Authorization: Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. (Sponsorship, OPT, CPT, and H1B transfers are unavailable).

Nice to Have:

· Direct experience within telecom carrier or Network Operations Center (NOC) environments.

· Exposure to Diameter protocols or telecom billing/signaling frameworks.

· Cisco networking foundations.

· Basic Linux scripting or PHP exposure for automation tools., Applicants must have valid, independent authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer, support, or accept any form of sponsorship-whether employer, third-party, future, contingent, transfer, or otherwise. Candidates must be able to work for any employer in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship of any kind. Work authorization will be verified, and misrepresentation will result in immediate removal from consideration., * Do you have 3-plus years of hands-on experience troubleshooting SIP or VoIP platforms in a live production environment?

  • Are you comfortable running diagnostic commands from a Linux terminal to isolate application-layer software issues?
  • Will you now or in the future require visa sponsorship to work permanently in the United States?
  • This role requires heavy network packet analysis. Are you comfortable using Wireshark to troubleshoot live VoIP traffic and signaling logs?

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Newark, NJ 07199
