IT Management Epic Optime

Job description

Insight Global is seeking an Epic Project Manager to support a perioperative Refuel initiative at an enterprise-level academic health system in Maryland. This consultant will partner closely with operational and IT leadership to drive standardized workflows across multiple member organizations as the system moves back to Epic Foundation. The role will support three primary workstreams within the perioperative space: patient optimization (preparing patients for surgery), block management (including the transition to Epic Marketplace and coordination across teams), and patient throughput focused on efficiency.

This Project Manager will be responsible for operational readiness, high-level timeline ownership, and coordinating the sequencing of build completion, training, and go-live activities. The role does not include Epic build responsibilities or independent workflow decision-making; instead, the consultant will surface decision points, provide recommendations, and partner with teams to keep initiatives moving forward.

The consultant will collaborate with perioperative clinical improvement leadership, nursing innovation leadership, IT application teams, and the PMO. Success in this role requires strong change management skills, the ability to operate effectively across operations and IT, the ability to pick up mid-stream in some areas while starting from the beginning in others, and comfort driving progress against tight timelines.

Requirements

Required:

  • PM II or Senior Project Manager experience with a minimum of 3+ years

  • Experience leading large, service-line based initiatives

  • Strong ability to bridge operations and IT in a matrixed environment

  • Proven change management experience

  • Experience partnering with senior-level stakeholders, including VP-level leaders

  • Comfortable leading stakeholder-facing meetings and driving alignment

  • Sprint-based project experience

  • Epic experience at a workflow and decision-making level (not just build-focused)

  • Perioperative experience required Plusses:

  • Prior experience supporting perioperative optimization initiatives

  • Familiarity with Epic Optime

  • Green Belt certification achieved through sprints

  • CLI experience including on-site engagement, waste walks, and process mapping
