Job description

Amentum is seeking a Site Design Network Engineer to support our federal program in Warrenton, VA. Our team operates and maintains a secure integrated voice, video, data global communications network for our DoD customer. Successful candidate will implement all requisite national security directives with specific emphasis on NISPOM, Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), requirements, as applicable.

Responsibilities:

Act as a critical link between technical engineering planning and execution. Key areas of this role include:

Engineering & Design

o Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to drive enterprise-level analysis, design, and integration of network infrastructure

o Independently engineer and re-engineer network designs to support modernization and secure portfolio integration

o Support infrastructure, systems, and data architecture efforts, including both logical and physical representations

Technical Documentation

o Serve as the lead technical expert for high-fidelity network documentation using Microsoft Visio, translating complex requirements into Layer 2/3 topologies, rack elevations, and boundary points

o Perform physical and logical site surveys to validate existing infrastructure and update legacy documentation to “As-Built” status

o Maintain strict configuration control, traceability, and governance of all Enterprise Architecture artifacts

Strategy & Compliance

o Ensure all designs and artifacts comply with DoDAF 2.0 and DoW IT governance requirements

o Analyze proposed system changes and infrastructure upgrades to determine enterprise-level improvements

o Possess an understanding of DoW IT infrastructure, on-premise hosting environments, and organizational structures

Leadership & Logistics

o Compile complex technical data to provide actionable recommendations and present architectural solutions to senior staff, technical leadership, and diverse functional teams

Requirements

Do you have experience in Visio?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or the ability to acquire SCI

  • Bachelors Degree plus 5 years of relevant work experience; Associates Degree plus 7 years of work experience
  • Experience in enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, development, integration, IT infrastructure, or network engineering
  • Technical Tools: advanced expertise in Microsoft Visio, including the creation of Layer 2/3 topologies, rack elevations, the use of custom stencils, layers, and data-linked diagrams
  • Architectural Frameworks: extensive understanding of DoDAF 2.0 and all viewpoints, as well as DoD enterprise architecture policies, guidance, and reference models
  • Infrastructure Mastery: Working knowledge of DoD/DoW IT infrastructure environments, including networks, hosting environments, enterprise services, and operating within secure boundaries
  • Cybersecurity Standards: Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, Zero Trust principles, secure system design, and STIG compliance
  • Data & System Modeling: Experience developing data and system reference models
  • Vocabulary & Taxonomy: Experience developing taxonomy, terms and definitions, and controlled vocabularies to ensure standardization across architectural artifacts
  • One of the following 8140 IAT Level II baseline certifications (or higher):
  • Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, SSCP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Networking IT experience with on-premises environments
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
  • ITIL 4 Foundation/Master
