Job description

  • Evaluate, select and apply state-of-the-art ICT systems, techniques, procedures, design and modifications
  • Design and specify ICT systems including but not limited to fiber optic backbones, horizontal cabling, bonding and cabling pathways
  • The ICT Specialist will be expected to complete a variety of project tasks including but not limited to the following:
  • Strong general engineering knowledge of either the telecommunication (Horizontal/Backbone cabling)
  • Show ability to design cabling pathways such as conduits or cable tray systems as well as proper bonding systems.
  • Meet with project clients to evaluate, define and review customer needs/objectives and ensure those requirements are meet within the project design.
  • Define and develop complete project related construction documents to include all design documents (SD, DD, CD) to show design intent, project specifications and assist with system related activities within all construction administration (CA) activities.
  • Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary project teams to develop functional requirements, system designs and other project related requirements.
  • Edit telecommunication or security specification specifically to the specific project.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new emerging technologies.
  • Assist in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field support is needed.
  • Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents
  • Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables
  • Independently perform ICT communications assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected
  • Select and recommend procedures, communication devices and equipment; write specifications covering all communications system matters; perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team
  • Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of ICT design process
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) or OSP (Outside Plant) is preferred
  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • “Can-Do” and problem-solving mind-set.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, on schedule and under budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • to work in a high-velocity environment managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality.
  • Strong computer skills and a proficiency or able to work in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in Revit, AutoCAD is a bonus. Must be able to learn new applications quickly.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and design standards and practices.
  • Strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • Preference given to local candidates, * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in low-voltage system design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
