Job description

Echo Five Group (EFG) seeks a highly qualified Suitability Specialist to provide onsite support to a Department of the Navy (DoN) customer. This full-time position focuses on personnel security and suitability operations, including compliance reviews, background investigation support, case tracking, and preliminary adjudicative analysis in alignment with Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiatives. The Suitability Specialist will interpret and implement personnel suitability and fitness policies and support a high-volume caseload critical to timely civilian onboarding and mission readiness.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct compliance reviews, technical assessments, and corrective action validation activities related to personnel security and suitability programs.
  • Perform preliminary suitability and security reviews, including interim determinations in accordance with federal vetting standards and SECNAV 5510.30C.
  • Manage and track personnel security and suitability investigation cases using the National Security Case Management System (NSCMS) and case tracking tools.
  • Review and analyze background investigations, identifying issues and supporting case development for adjudication.
  • Enter, update, and maintain case data within NSCMS and internal tracking systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify applicant information and prior clearance history using systems such as USA Staffing (USAS), DISS, eQIP, and NP2 e-APP.
  • Maintain and update Suitability Assessment Checklists and ensure cases are properly prepared for adjudicator review.
  • Support backlog reduction efforts by researching and processing pending security and suitability cases.
  • Provide data tracking, reporting metrics, and database updates to support client requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to support timely processing of investigations and onboarding activities.

Requirements

Experience supporting personnel security, suitability, and fitness determinations within the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DoN), or another federal agency.

  • Strong understanding of Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiatives and federal personnel vetting standards.
  • Experience conducting compliance reviews and preliminary adjudicative analysis.
  • Familiarity with security systems and tools including the National Security Case Management System (NSCMS), USA Staffing (USAS), Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (eQIP), and the Navy Personnel and Pay (NP2) electronic application.
  • Experience managing investigative reports, case tracking systems, and data reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Completion of OPM Fundamentals of Suitability for Suitability and Fitness Adjudicators training preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Qualifications

Active Secret Clearance CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.

Work Location: This position is fully onsite at Washington Navy Yard (WNY), five days per week.
