Job description
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated IT Systems & Network Technician to join our growing team as a 1099 Independent Contractor. This position combines remote technical support with onsite field service for business clients.
Approximately 60-70% of the work is performed remotely, providing technical support, system administration, troubleshooting, and network management. The remaining work consists of onsite installations, maintenance, and project deployments.
Candidates should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple projects, interacting professionally with customers, and solving technical challenges with minimal supervision.
Travel Requirements
- Local travel throughout Northeast Ohio is required.
- Occasional travel to customer locations up to two hours from the home office.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Mileage and vehicle repair and service reimbursement may be available for qualifying travel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide remote and onsite technical support for Windows desktops, laptops, servers, and business networks.
- Install, terminate, label, certify, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic structured cabling.
- Install and configure patch panels, network racks, cable management systems, and equipment cabinets.
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, modems, managed switches, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Deploy and maintain pfSense firewalls, including OpenVPN site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Ubiquiti UniFi gateways, managed switches, wireless access points, cloud management, and point-to-point wireless bridges.
- Install and configure PoE IP security camera systems, Network Video Recorders (NVRs), remote viewing, recording schedules, and user access.
- Install and configure conference room audiovisual systems including televisions, displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, and video conferencing equipment.
- Support Microsoft Windows workstations, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, equipment inventories, cable labeling, passwords, and customer configurations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while representing InfrastruXur Technical Consulting in a professional manner., This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance and must provide reliable transportation, basic hand tools, and maintain a professional appearance while representing InfrastruXur Technical Consulting, LLC.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in IT support, networking, or systems installation.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and wireless networking.
- Experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured network cabling.
- Experience configuring business-class routers, firewalls, switches, wireless networks, and VPN solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely work on ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Comfortable working above ceilings, in equipment rooms, construction environments, and outdoors.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, cable certification testers, and networking test equipment.
