Job description

This role will research, design, and develop computer software systems to aid in innovating and improving our advanced automation assembly equipment. The engineer will access our advanced automation machines and equipment in our engineering labs for a hands-on approach to develop software algorithms to improve existing features and develop new solutions., * Design and code software subsystems for automated equipment.

  • Learn and integrate new hardware, software protocols, and engineering tools.
  • Creative problem-solving and electronic diagnostic/troubleshooting abilities.
  • Develop firmware for embedded systems, provide task coordination for axes and IO.
  • Work with GIT and JIRA to collaborate with team members on project tasks.
  • Collaborates with Electrical, Mechanical Engineering and Q&R on product performance requirements, design, test, and development activities.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software engineering?, * B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant major with 0-2 years of experience.

  • A notable combination of software development experience and relevant education may be considered.
  • Notable experience with C and/or C++.
  • Highly flexible, quality driven, goal oriented and able to participate in a team environment.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with micro-controller and micro-processor programming.
  • Working experience with RTOS and/or embedded compilers such as ARM, Keil, TI, ST Micro and Microchip.
  • Experience defining FPGA logic with VHDL.
  • Motor control experience is desirable.
  • Experience with GIT and JIRA.

Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:

  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.
  • Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues, and in giving presentations.
  • The ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences may occasionally be required (<10%).
