Job description

The Sustainability Support Specialist supports company-wide sustainability initiatives through environmental data management, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement activities. This position is responsible for collecting, validating, and analyzing environmental and packaging data to support compliance requirements, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and sustainability certifications. The role collaborates with internal teams, manufacturing facilities, customers, and external partners to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with evolving sustainability regulations and company objectives., * Work with plant facilities to collect, validate, and analyze data in the areas of GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3); Energy and water usage; Waste, recycling, and diversion; Packaging materials and components

  • Maintain sustainability tracking tools, dashboards, and reporting templates
  • Support development of annual sustainability reporting (e.g., Impact Report, EcoVadis, customer requests)
  • Assist with communication between internal staff, external customers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate sustainability-related customer questionnaires and requests
  • Assist with EPR reporting submissions and supporting documentation
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal leadership and customers
  • Maintain organized sustainability compliance records
  • Assist with sustainability audits and certifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned, Other Duties: All employees must comply with all company policies including but not limited to those outlined in the Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, and Safe Quality Foods documents.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in a remote environment, with collaboration across multiple manufacturing locations and occasional travel for plant visits or customer meetings.

Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, sit for extended periods of time, and lift 20-40 pounds of office supplies. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, fingers, with the ability to feel and reach with hands and arms will also be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary, Monday through Friday, according to business needs. Occasional evenings and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Travel: Occasional travel to manufacturing locations, customer sites, or industry events may be required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years experience with regulatory compliance, environmental reporting and/or data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Excel or spreadsheet skills, including managing complex datasets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with flexible packaging materials and basic packaging concepts preferred
