Job description

The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a highly motivated, Full-Time, IT Support Specialist who thrives on solving problems, supporting others, and ensuring technology runs seamlessly. This role is more than a help desk position - it is an opportunity to directly support the operations of City Hall, public safety departments, and the employees who serve our community every day.

What You’ll Do

As our IT Support Specialist, you will serve as frontline technical support for City staff, ensuring reliable access to essential systems and services., * Provide onsite and remote technical support for hardware, software, networking, and mobile devices

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain PCs, laptops, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot Windows systems and support Microsoft 365, with emphasis on Outlook and Microsoft Teams
  • Support mobile device setup and troubleshooting
  • Maintain network connectivity and diagnose equipment issues
  • Manage and document service requests through a ticketing system
  • Deliver courteous, timely, and effective customer service
  • Provide end-user training as needed
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage during non-business hours
  • Assist with new technology deployments and IT projects
  • Support critical systems for public safety departments

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Customer communication?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Associate’s degree in a related field

  • Two (2) years of relevant IT support experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to pass Police Department background check and fingerprinting prior to employment
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license, * CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, or comparable certification
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, integrity, flexibility, and initiative

Technical Expertise

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:

  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking principles
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (especially Outlook and Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops
  • Experience with macOS in a managed enterprise environment (a plus)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Phone systems and office equipment
  • Experience using service ticketing systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
