Job description
Day-to-Day:
- Travel to client sites across the Pittsburgh tri-state area (PA, OH, WV)
- Install and set up IT hardware and telecommunications systems
- Connect and configure PCs, network devices, and related equipment
- Assist with structured cabling installations and terminations
- Troubleshoot connectivity and basic network issues on-site
- Support installation of:
- VoIP/telecom systems
- Surveillance and access control equipment
- Paging and communication systems
- Communicate directly with clients to ensure successful installations and service
- Maintain professionalism while representing the company in the field, Insight Global is seeking a Telecommunications & IT Technician for an established telecommunications and IT services provider. This individual will be responsible for traveling to client sites to install, maintain, and troubleshoot IT hardware and telecom systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with physical IT setups, basic networking knowledge, and a willingness to learn telecom technologies. This is a highly interactive, field-based role where candidates will work directly with clients and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies including VoIP, structured cabling, and network equipment. This opportunity offers growth, training, and the ability to build a well-rounded technical skillset in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on physical IT hardware installation & setup experience
- Hands on experience:
- Connecting and setting up PCs
- Networking fundamentals (static vs. dynamic IPs, connectivity)
- Establishing internet connectivity
- Basic firewall awareness
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on technically
- Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursed)
- Professional, dependable, and self-motivated demeanor
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Telecom or low-voltage field experience
- Experience with:
- Structured cabling (Cat5/6, fiber)
- Access control systems, surveillance equipment, or telecom systems
- UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) exposure
- Prior client/customer-facing experience (IT support or similar)
- Experience working in a field service environment Ownership of basic tools
