Position Summary The High School Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The teacher will create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic growth, inquiry-based learning, and student achievement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Pennsylvania Academic Standards and district curriculum. Deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction in assigned science content area(s) (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science). Incorporate laboratory investigations, hands-on experiments, and inquiry-based learning. Integrate technology and real-world applications into instruction. Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs. Assessment & Data Use Design and administer formative and summative assessments. Analyze student performance data to inform instruction and interventions. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students. Maintain accurate records of grades and student progress. Classroom Environment Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and academic performance. Create a safe laboratory environment that follows all safety protocols and procedures. Promote a positive, equitable, and respectful classroom culture. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs and department meetings. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress. Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional development. Work cooperatively with special education staff, counselors, and support personnel. Professional Responsibilities Maintain appropriate certification and professional growth (Act 48 compliance). Follow district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field (Master’s preferred). Valid Pennsylvania Secondary Teaching Certification in appropriate content area. Demonstrated knowledge of scientific content and pedagogy. Strong classroom management skills. Effective communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AP or honors-level coursework. Experience with project-based or inquiry-based learning. Familiarity with data-driven instruction. Experience integrating educational technology.
