Job description

The Technical Consultant will architect solutions for complex IT environments, deliver advanced technical input to the pre-sales and sales process and act as a point of escalation for challenging P1 and P2 incidents and tickets, and for 3rd line IT support colleagues. The role holder will also input to, or provide service to, client projects - for example, building out IT networks. The role holder will provide expert advice, knowledge and actions as required to deliver solutions for the more challenging and complex client contexts, including major IT outages, Cyber-attacks, application or infrastructure failures, and disaster recovery cutovers and environment retrieval/ re-builds. The Technical Consultant will provide strong technical leadership and mentoring to the wider technical team on the areas in which he / she is an expert., * Architect solutions to complex IT needs for our customers, and where necessary, lead and action the building of these solutions

  • Oversee and or action the migration of client applications, data and services to new applications, infrastructure, and cloud solutions Act as “Level 4” support for the most complex and challenging support requests - typically P1 and P2 incidents
  • Provide expert technical / architectural input and guidance to the sales and technology teams where required
  • Act as a senior technical leader and mentor to the wider technology team
  • Work with the CTO to define the technical standards, frameworks and methodologies and ensure they are embedded through training, coaching and mentoring
  • Work within relevant IT frameworks for support, change, disaster recovery and cyber incidents, ensuring best practice processes are diligently followed to analyse, understand and resolve issues

Requirements

Do you have experience in Python?, * 10+ Years in IT support / projects / implementations

  • Strong communication skills - able to speak and write with technical clarity, and able to explain technical matters to a range of technical & non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work on one’s own, as well as part of a team
  • Good time management and prioritisation
  • Strong structured and logical thinking skills to identify, analyse, diagnose and fix complex IT problems
  • Experience in providing high levels of customer service
  • Deep skills in several of the following: Networking- Connectivity; Windows Server 2012 onwards; Active Directory mgt.; Group Policy; Outlook and Office products; Microsoft Exchange; User/Group Administration; Mail flow; File shares; Routers / managed switching; Domain control; Network topologies; Firewalls; Strong understanding of the management and installation of Hyper-V and/or VMWare
  • Experience of Exchange / O365, MS SBS 2003 -2011, MS server OS 2003 -2016, Azure, * Minimum 1st Degree in Computing Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or relevant science discipline; higher degrees distinct Advantage
  • 7+ years of understanding technical skill sets and managing technical teams in an IT related field
  • Certified in relevant IT qualifications - e.g. ITSM / ITIL V4 / CMMI / CIS V8 / COBIT 5 / TOGAF / CCIE / CCNP / VMWare Certified Professional VCP-NV/ CompTIA Network+ / CWNA / CDRE / CBCM / CBCP/ NIST / Cisco, Microsoft, AWS Cloud, etc.
  • Certified in cyber security an advantage - e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA,
  • CEH, GICSP, GRID, GIAC, CREST, KALI OSCP
  • Experience in Python, Ansible or PowerShell would be a desirable
  • Hold a senior certification preferably CCNP R&S or Security (or being close to achieving that certification)
