Job description
Advanced Fiber Products is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to support our quality management system and production operations. This hands-on position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, supporting manufacturing teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
The Quality Technician spends approximately 95% of their time on the production floor working directly with operators, supervisors, and production teams to maintain quality standards and support operational excellence., * Perform quality system audits, document findings, and recommend process improvements.
- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections to verify product conformance and process control.
- Utilize metrology equipment, including calipers, tape measures, dial indicators, and gauge blocks, to verify product measurements and quality requirements.
- Train and support production employees on proper measurement techniques and quality standards.
- Provide quality support and guidance to supervisors, leads, and production personnel.
- Assist in the development, revision, and maintenance of operational procedures and work instructions.
- Participate in corrective and preventive action activities to address quality issues and improve processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the company’s Lean manufacturing culture.
- Communicate quality concerns, trends, and opportunities for improvement to management and production teams.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, audit documentation, and quality reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of manufacturing or production experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection documents.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical, manufacturing, quality, or related field.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing quality role.
- Experience with quality audits, inspections, and corrective action processes.
- Experience using precision measuring and metrology equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods during the work shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs or ladders.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate measuring equipment and inspection tools.
- Ability to visually inspect products and identify defects or quality issues.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear., * Can you consistently lift up to 50 pounds?
- Are you proficient in Microsoft Office applications?
