Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

SecureBio is building a pathogen-agnostic early-warning system to detect novel threats fast enough to act. We operate the world’s largest metagenomic biosurveillance network, sequencing wastewater and nasal swabs daily to screen for emerging pathogens. We’re hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to build, scale, and secure the infrastructure behind it. We’re looking for an experienced and pragmatic engineer who’s excited about both high-level strategy/architecture and practical implementation. You’ll be the sole infrastructure engineer at SecureBio Detection and a key member of our Pipelines team as we meet our ambitious scaling and speed goals., * Own the “how should we build this?” decisions for cloud infrastructure

• Be primary owner and administrator of our AWS accounts
• Design robust automation, reliability, and observability infrastructure
• Improve and maintain AWS permissions and security
• Own GitHub admin, CI/CD, app integrations, and related DevOps
• Aggressively optimize for cost and speed
• Extensively use AI tools/agentic coding to accelerate your work

Do you have experience in Tooling?, * 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience, with deep hands-on AWS experience

• Experience standing up infrastructure in small teams with minimal oversight
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code; Terraform strongly preferred
• Security-first mindset; experience with AWS security tooling and best practices
• Adept at collaborating with scientists and software engineers to understand scientific problems and design infrastructure strategies
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS automations (Lambda, Step Functions) and/or scientific computing in AWS (Batch)
• Experience provisioning and managing databases
• Familiarity with our stack: Python, Docker, Nextflow
• Broad information security experience; comfortable as our security point person and liaison with consultants
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks for federal contracting
