Job description

The Programmer at Lywood Automation is a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions for automation systems. This role is critical in ensuring system functionality, customization, and seamless integration across control platforms. The Programmer collaborates closely with internal teams and clients to deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable programming solutions while supporting ongoing service needs and continuous improvement efforts., * Develop and debug control system software, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA code, to meet project specifications and performance standards.

  • Design and implement seamless integration between various automation systems to ensure operational consistency.
  • Conduct comprehensive system testing and validation to verify code reliability, safety, and accuracy prior to deployment.
  • Customize programs to meet unique client requirements or system modifications, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with project and service teams to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Assist the Service team in diagnosing and resolving software-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain thorough and organized documentation for all software code, system logic, and architecture diagrams.
  • Research and apply emerging technologies, programming standards, and best practices to improve development efficiency and system performance.
  • Support the development and improvement of internal programming tools, templates, and practices.
  • Ensure all work aligns with Lywood Automation’s standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Review Safety protocols, such as Stops and Curtains, and make recommendations to the Customer of what should be included when appropriate.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SCADA system design?, To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • REQUIRED: 2+ years of experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and/or SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Ignition, etc.).
  • PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Experience with control logic development, system integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with structured text ladder logic, and/or function block programming.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to listen and take direction from your Manager.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
