Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Information Analyst to join the Analysis Team, with a dedicated focus on mental health data, analysis and reporting.

This role will support a wide range of stakeholders across mental health services, providing high-quality analysis and insight to inform operational delivery, service improvement and strategic decision-making. The post holder will work with a high degree of autonomy and will be expected to proactively identify opportunities where data and analysis can add value.

The Division will be embarking on the implementation of a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) within the next 1-2 years, and the development of effective, reliable reporting will be pivotal to supporting this programme of work. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the reporting approach ahead of and during this transformation.

Previous experience of the NHS is desirable but not essential; above all you must be comfortable working with numbers and people, a logical and analytical thinker, and highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of products along with analytical systems such as R or Python. You will share our commitment for high quality information to support organisational decision making.

The post holder will: Lead on the analysis, interpretation and reporting of mental health data, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and meaningful. Design, develop and maintain a range of routine and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to support operational and strategic requirements. Work closely with a large and diverse group of stakeholders, including operational leads, clinicians and senior managers, to understand and meet their data and information needs. Use SQL and other analytical tools to extract, manipulate and analyse data from multiple sources. Apply appropriate analysis techniques, including trend analysis, performance monitoring and data quality assessment. Support services to better understand their data, highlighting risks, opportunities and areas for improvement. Contribute to the development of reporting and analytics in preparation for the implementation of the new EHR. Manage a varied workload with competing priorities, working independently and using judgement to plan and deliver work effectively. Promote good data quality and consistent use of information across mental health services.
