Job description
- Rack installation including putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.
- Troubleshooting and resolve Telco Connectivity issues
- Troubleshoot & Replace Network Switch equipment
- You will communicate within a ticketing environment that is used and supervised by multiple internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
- Documentation of activities and build/modify SOPs
- Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.
- System power supplies and cabling install, fix and repair
- You should be able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects.
- Responsible for providing the first line of onsite field system support that includes hardware, software, software applications, and networking to customers and field personnel on-site at customers or remotely.
- Provides a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service programs.
- Customer support specifications may include product performance, maintenance, product installation, project management, site planning and professional services.
- Pro-actively coordinates resources, problem resolution, problem escalation, and the use of system level diagnostics.
- Understands service processes and options that are linked with the customers specifications.
- 24-hour commitment to support customer specifications which may also be fulfilled by participation in the regional standby rotation.
- Works primarily at customer sites. Duties and tasks are standard with some variation.
Requirements
- Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
- Strong interest in learning new DC concepts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer Service skills
- Shift schedule Includes weekends and holidays.
- 3+ years working in an IT environment.
- Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices and IT equipment.
- Inventory management experience. Ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
- Experience taking on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
- Experience raising issues to Sr. onsite staff and management as needed.
- IT Hardware Concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB)
- Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus, * 2-year or 4-year degree or 3+ Years of experience
- 1 year+ experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber, testing of cables, Cooling and Electrical systems concepts inside the data center Works primarily at customer sites located near Ashburn, Reston, and Manassas Virginia.
