Job description
In this role, you will lead and develop large, geographically distributed teams responsible for the end-to-end planning, design, construction, implementation, and optimization of 5G network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Radio Access Network (RAN) engineering. You will own market-level accountability for network performance and execution, align engineering delivery with business priorities, and ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and operational excellence across RAN and project management functions.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop high-performing, multi-layered RAN engineering organizations across multiple markets, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Own market-level accountability for RAN design, optimization, deployment, and network performance outcomes that drive customer experience.
- Direct execution of large-scale capital programs including 5G expansion, C-Band deployment, densification, modernization, and Fiber integration initiatives.
- Translate national and regional network strategies into actionable engineering roadmaps and prioritized market-level build plans.
- Partner cross-functionally with Construction & Engineering, Transport, Operations, Vendor Management, and Product teams to accelerate deployment velocity and improve outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and construction standards through strong governance, field oversight, and vendor accountability.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in RAN technologies including LTE and 5G NR, with strong understanding of network design, optimization, and deployment processes.
- Experience leading large-scale wireless and wireline network engineering and construction initiatives.
- Proven ability to execute complex, multi-year capital programs while balancing cost, schedule, quality, and performance.
- Strong knowledge of network performance management, including accessibility, retainability, throughput, coverage, and customer experience metrics.
- Experience managing OEM and vendor partners to deliver on performance, quality, and schedule commitments.
- Ability to analyze data and performance trends to drive prioritization and continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
- 10+ years of related experience in network engineering, construction, or infrastructure leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading large organizations, including direct supervision of professionals.
- Proven ability to design and execute strategies aligned with organizational goals and network priorities.
- Experience influencing hiring, performance management, promotion, and compensation decisions; background in highly scaled or regulated environments preferred.

Our Director-Network Access C&E earns between $188,100 - $282,100 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
