Job description
A well-established and growing manufacturing organisation is seeking a Compliance Lead Engineer to take ownership of quality, environmental, and regulatory compliance across its operations.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring all engineering and manufacturing activities meet required standards, while driving continuous improvement and supporting business growth.
The Role
You will lead and manage compliance activities aligned with ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental), while supporting the implementation of ISO 45001 (Health & Safety).
Working cross-functionally, you will ensure compliance is embedded across product development, manufacturing processes, and business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and certification bodies
- Plan and manage internal and external audits, including corrective actions
- Ensure policies, procedures, and documentation remain up to date and compliant
- Oversee product and material compliance, including regulatory and environmental requirements
- Support engineering teams in embedding compliance into product design and lifecycle processes
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies across operations
- Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to quality, compliance, and environmental performance
- Deliver training and promote a strong culture of compliance across the organisation
Requirements
Do you have experience in Continuous improvement?, You will be a proactive and detail-oriented professional with experience in compliance, quality, or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
- Experience managing audits (internal and external)
- Understanding of regulatory requirements within manufacturing or engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Desirable:
- Experience in metal manufacturing, construction products, or similar sectors
- Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001)
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and CE/UKCA compliance, The candidate must essentially have hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, be audit-ready, know regulatory compliance for manufacturing products, and be capable of leading corrective actions and continuous improvement. Communication, training, and culture-building are also critical, but secondary to the technical compliance skills., * ISO 9001: 1 year (required)
