Job description

The Design Engineer will own the full design lifecycle and project management for aerospace tooling projects, working with experienced leadership for support and guidance. This role focuses on translating customer requirements into complete 3D tool designs and manufacturing data packages, coordinating closely with manufacturing, quality, and vendors to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Review customer requirements and translate them into complete 3D modeled tool designs and detailed tool prints using Catia V5.

  • Create and release comprehensive 3D and 2D data packages to the shop floor for manufacturing.

  • Coordinate with manufacturing work teams on new project releases, providing clear design intent and resolving manufacturing-related issues as they arise.

  • Review and modify customer-provided tool designs to optimize material usage and improve manufacturing efficiency.

  • Select materials and other subcontracted services, and prepare purchase requisitions for required vendors.

  • Manage customer design review meetings, provide status updates, and maintain professional, timely correspondence throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with the quality team to support AS9100D documentation requirements and assist during audits.

  • Work effectively within a cross-functional team environment to understand concerns, build cooperation, and solve problems quickly and effectively.

  • Use strong time management skills to remain efficient and productive while handling multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Contribute as a versatile team member, willing to support various tasks and initiatives that drive company success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for 3D modeling and the development of creative static and/or mechanical designs.

  • Proficiency or strong interest in using Catia V5 for 3D tool design, with willingness to participate in on-the-job and external training.

  • Excellent print reading skills and strong mechanical visualization ability.
