Job description

Experteer Overview As a Design Engineer, you will create custom mechanical solutions in production environments, from concept to installation, focusing on manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and reliable performance. You will own projects end-to-end and collaborate with customers and internal teams to translate requirements into actionable designs. Expect hands-on shop support, integration with production facilities, and a role that directly contributes to process improvements and tooling optimization. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role in a small, fabrication-focused organization. Compensation / Benefits * Design complex mechanical equipment, jigs, fixtures, end effectors, and material handling tooling using SolidWorks from concept to completion * Perform structural design and FEA validation to ensure safety and performance * Create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for machining and assembly * Collaborate with customers to capture requirements and provide project updates * Manage cradle-to-grave projects including fabrication, installation, and implementation * Coordinate design reviews, timelines, and deliverables while managing customer expectations * Ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness by applying shop floor processes and machining knowledge * Support shop assembly and onsite installation to ensure proper function and integration * Contribute to production process optimization through tooling and equipment design * Improve precision, repeatability, ergonomics, and operator safety on production lines * Collaborate with stakeholders to improve design standards and documentation Tasks * Expert-level SolidWorks proficiency with ability to design complex tooling and custom equipment * Experience in custom machine and tooling design for production environments * Ability to own projects from concept through installation and final implementation * Strong project management skills (timelines, reviews, customer communication) * Solid understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes * Mechanical design and machine design experience in manufacturing * Ability to perform structural design and FEA when required * Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting for mechanical systems * Computers: SolidWorks and Microsoft products * Experience in machining, fabrication, and new product development * Familiarity with AutoCAD for complementary tasks * Basic sheet metal design knowledge * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is favorable * Experience in fabrication shops and machining equipment * Strong collaboration and communication skills Key requirements * Medical, dental & vision * 401(k) Retirement Plan * Life Insurance * Short and long-term disability * Health Spending Account (HSA) * PTO / Paid time off
