GIS Technician

Supports utility mapping and GIS data maintenance activities to ensure accurate, complete, and high-quality facility data. Responsible for QA/QC, map updates, and data validation across electric and gas systems using internal tools and source documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC on utility mapping data using established tools

and processes

• Review and compare source documents (field data, vendor outputs,

work orders) to validate accuracy

• Update and maintain GIS maps, switch diagrams, and related records
• Perform data entry and ongoing maintenance of utility and

landbase data

• Validate attributes, correct discrepancies, and reconcile errors in

mapping data

• Apply phasing and switching information based on diagrams and

material records

• Compare GIS maps to field conditions and update records accordingly
• Support work request and as-built closeout by coordinating

with field personnel

• Complete gas and electric map corrections within assigned areas
• Maintain documentation related to mapping processes and data

updates

• Experience with data entry, QA/QC, or mapping-related work
• Basic understanding of construction standards and work requests
• Familiarity with utility systems (electric, gas, landbase)
• Ability to interpret maps, diagrams, and source documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy
• Comfortable working in system-based environments and following

defined processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GIS tools or mapping systems
• Exposure to:
• ArcFM
• ADMS
• Maximo
• Familiarity with:
• Pole maps, underground maps, gas maps
• Switch diagrams and utility network layouts
