Job description

The Quality Assurance Technician ensures the facility consistently meets food regulatory requirements and internal quality standards by monitoring production processes, verifying controls, and promptly reporting and addressing any practices that could compromise food safety, product quality, or food defense., * Monitor production conditions, product specifications, process controls, and tracking controls throughout the plant to ensure compliance with all quality and food safety programs.

  • Maintain and verify wash line chemical concentrations to meet established standards.
  • Monitor and verify checks on existing production control forms and ensure they meet all program requirements, including participation in internal audits of these forms.
  • Collect environmental swabs, air sampling dishes, and laboratory retain samples according to established procedures.
  • Monitor all Critical Control Points (CCPs) on-line, take corrective actions when necessary, and assist in determining root causes and developing preventive action plans.
  • Check and document pH levels, temperatures, and brix of each batch of juice to ensure they remain within product specifications.
  • Conduct and document Facility Operation Inspections and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections.
  • Perform verification of Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and conduct ATP swabs to validate sanitation effectiveness.
  • Track non-conforming products, document findings, and record their final dispositions.
  • Perform pre-operational inspection procedures on all production and bottling equipment and the facility prior to start-up.
  • Perform equipment calibrations, verify accuracy, and make necessary adjustments to ensure reliable measurements.
  • Complete special assignments and projects as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Assist with testing of food products to confirm compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Conduct inventory checks for QA-related supplies such as ATP swabs, charts, forms, and other testing materials.
  • Verify that product volumes, cap torques, and bottle weights consistently meet product specifications.
  • Complete and enter all pallet tags, CCP forms, and related production and bottling documentation into the database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Record process cycles and verify that all High Pressure Processing (HPP) settings and related information are correct and fully documented.
  • Perform metal mesh and magnet inspections to ensure foreign material controls are functioning properly.
  • Verify production lot codes, labels, mold numbers, and packaging to ensure they meet product and regulatory specifications.
  • Perform laboratory duties as needed, including sample preparation, testing, and documentation.
  • Verify shipping and receiving activities to ensure materials and finished products meet quality and food safety requirements.
  • Adhere at all times to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when working in the plant.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and support production needs, including overtime and schedule adjustments as required.

  • 1-2 years of food industry experience preferred, such as food manufacturing, production, or line cook experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations preferred, including familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and related programs.
  • Strong computer skills, including accurate data entry and experience working with spreadsheets such as Excel.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing forms, records, and documentation.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and support adherence to food safety and quality standards.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and support preventive actions.
  • Ability to adapt to constant changes in production, processes, and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision while maintaining accountability for results.
  • Willingness and ability to meet deadlines, including working an adjusted schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to comply with strict food safety and GMP standards, including hygiene and personal appearance requirements.
  • Reliable transportation to support consistent attendance for scheduled shifts., * Experience in food manufacturing, production, or culinary roles such as line cook is highly valued.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus and can support communication across teams.
  • Previous experience with CCP monitoring, HPP processes, and metal detection or foreign material controls is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with SSOP verification, ATP swabbing, and environmental monitoring programs is an advantage.
  • Comfort working with databases and electronic documentation systems.

Work Environment

All work takes place on the production floor within a high-volume food manufacturing facility. You will work closely with a team of approximately 32 Quality Assurance professionals distributed throughout the plant. The environment may be wet or dry, with temperatures as low as 35°F, similar to a refrigerated warehouse or cold room. The position is on the 3rd shift, typically from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with one schedule running Sunday through Thursday and another Tuesday through Saturday, plus overtime and an additional sixth day as production requires. You must follow strict SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines at all times, including adherence to hygiene and attire standards appropriate for working with food products and in a cold production environment. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
