Job description

Apex Systems is currently hiring for a Data Center Decommission Technician with a technology client., As a Data Center Decommissioning Technician at Microsoft, you will play a crucial role in the lifecycle management of data center hardware. This position involves the safe and efficient decommissioning of servers and other equipment, ensuring compliance with Microsoft’s standards and procedures., Do they do a day to day/ responsibilities

Assessment and Planning: Evaluate equipment slated for decommissioning and develop a detailed plan for its removal.

Decommissioning: Safely power down, disconnect, and remove hardware from data center racks.

Data Security: Ensure all data is securely wiped from decommissioned equipment in compliance with data protection policies.

Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of decommissioned equipment and update inventory systems.

Recycling and Disposal: Coordinate the recycling or disposal of decommissioned hardware in an environmentally responsible manner.

Collaboration: Work closely with other data center teams to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption.

Compliance: Adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements during the decommissioning process.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in IT or related fields preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in data center operations, IT support, or hardware decommissioning.

Skills: Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, excellent problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require physical exertion.
