About the session

If the thought of working with Kafka makes you feel a bit lost, DON'T PANIC. There's a vast and beautiful ecosystem surrounding Apache Kafka and together we can adventure through it. We'll take a look at the basics of how Kafka works, what it can do for you, and its key components.

We'll start off by understanding the importance of events and why we'd even want to build systems with them. Taking the concept of a key-value pair to model events, we’ll explore topics, partitioning, and replication, and look at how to use the Producer and Consumer APIs. From there, we'll see how to use Kafka in the cloud. You'll also discover how to do stream processing with Kafka, and the importance of schema management. ✨

What to bring: a curious mindset.

What you'll come away with: Knowledge of the fundamental concepts and ecosystem of Apache Kafka.
