About the session

Green coding is a relatively new term and refers to programming code in a way that minimises the energy consumption of software, and therefore attempts to limit the potential environmental impact. One google search produces 0.07g of CO2. Visiting google.de for one year 10000 times a month (328 times a day) produces as much CO2 as boiling water for 642 cups of tea. But where does the tech industry spend its energy? These days data centers are responsible for a big and steady chunk of energy consumption. Most developers don’t have an influence on how much energy data centers need. However, we do have an influence on the code we write and where we run it. All of us can impact how much energy our code consumes and by green coding, we can reduce emissions steadily together.
