Machine Learning Backend Engineer

• Backend Development: Implement high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot, following modern microservices patterns.
• AI Development & Integration: Develop, optimize, and fine-tune machine learning models for natural language processing and speech interpretation to support emergency call handling.
• System Architecture: Design secure, distributed, and maintainable AI-driven platforms that deliver reliable, real-time assistance in mission- critical situations.
• Collaboration: Work closely within an independent, cross-functional team to build AI-enhanced solutions and deliver high-impact, production-ready software
• Agile Practices: Contribute to a culture of agility and continuous improvement through daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Quality & Performance: Ensure robust and reliable software via automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and performance tuning.

• Backend Expertise: Relevant experience in Java and Spring Boot with microservices architectures.
• AI/ML in Production: Experience or strong interest in developing, optimizing, and deploying ML models for NLP and speech processing.
• Speech & Audio Know-How: Familiarity with speech recognition and audio signal processing is a plus.
• API Mastery: Solid experience designing and optimizing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Analytical Thinking: Commitment to designing scalable, maintainable solutions for real-time AI applications.
• Agile Mindset: Strong commitment to agile methodologies and iterative delivery.
• Clear Communicator: Ability to talk about complex AI concepts within the team.

Due to legal requirements, we state that the min. annual gross salary for this position is EUR 44,450 with potential for significant overpayment based on your qualifications and experience.
