Job description
DWS's data infrastructure team provides the secure, scalable and trustworthy foundation for storing, processing and distributing critical enterprise data. As Engineering Lead for data infrastructure, you drive the design, built, and continuous improvement of our cloud-based and on-prem data platforms and the pipes between them. You'll align closely with the CTO Data and lead a high-impact squad, setting technical direction, mentoring team members and contributing directly to architecture and code.
Role Details
As an Engineering Lead - Data Infrastructure (m/f/d), you will (be):
- Lead, grow, and mentor a high impact data platform engineering team
- Hands-on contribution into software development efforts
- Own end-to-end architecture and design of a variety of data platform components - all the way from data ingestion to distribution
- Model, test, collaborate (to understand requirements, create stories, and design solutions), implement and help test requirements
- Contribute to the development of testing and quality control processes and policies for the organization
- Collaborate with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office and other stakeholder to improve compliance, security posture and reliability
- Work with product owners to translate product vision and demand into platform capabilities
Requirements

Extensive experience in platform engineering or an adjacent field, preferably with strong focus on enterprise data platforms. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus

Very strong expertise in the modern data stack, including cloud-based data platforms such as GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, and the ecosystem around them

Experience in growing and leading highly performing engineering teams

Extensive experience in operating production cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud, in complex enterprise environments

Proficiency with IaC (e.g. Terraform), automation tooling, orchestration tooling (e.g. dbt, Airflow)

Good understanding of data governance, security, and IT compliance in highly regulated environments

Very good programming skills in Python and/or Java

Experience with development utilizing software development life cycle (SDLC) tools including Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift

Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail

Proficiency in English required
