Job description
Mass transit demand is growing rapidly, especially in cities like Hamburg. Our Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) team leads the way in digitalization and CBTC technology.
As Project Network & Telecommunications Design Leader, you'll drive the design and support deployment activities including installation, testing, and commissioning. Reporting to the Project Director, you'll work closely with a skilled and motivated team to deliver high-quality solutions.
We'll look for you to:
- Ensure QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) targets for the N&T sub-system design and manage trade-offs across work packages.
- Develop design specifications (Preliminary & Detailed) and Bill of Quantities (BoQ) in line with engineering standards and best practices.
- Oversee system deliveries, documentation, and performance, support functional validation and configuration management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate external interfaces and maintain follow-up on technical gaps to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Collaborate with installation and commissioning teams, providing technical support, investigations, and lessons learned.
- Apply quality processes, methods, and guidelines for all N&T design activities; handle customer queries.
- Provide inputs for planning updates and work closely with other sub-system leaders to ensure overall project performance.
Requirements
We value passion and attitude over experience. If you have strong telecom design experience and a willingness to learn, we'd love to hear from you, even if you don't tick every box on the list:
- Degree in Science (e.g. Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, IT, Physics, Mathematics)
- Proven experience in radio deployments within industrial environments and managing telecom/IT design projects
- Strong technical coordination skills with experience in leading design activities and cross-functional teams
- In-depth knowledge of Data Communication techniques (wired and wireless), plus familiarity with application engineering and systems architecture
- High sense of quality for all documentation produced, which is aligned with customer's expectations and Alstom's quality mindset and quality processes
- Ability to manage sub-system configuration and installation studies throughout the project lifecycle
- Excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, and a rigorous, process-oriented approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
