Job description
We are seeking an experienced SAP Solution Manager Configuration Expert to support the setup, configuration, and optimization of SAP Technical Monitoring and System Monitoring within SAP Solution Manager. The expert will work closely with the Basis, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure that all managed systems are properly connected, monitored, and integrated into the customer's IT operations processes.
This role focuses on hands-on configuration, not on system administration or product strategy. The consultant will translate customer monitoring requirements into concrete technical settings in Solution Manager, leveraging standard templates and metrics., * Configure System Monitoring (Technical Monitoring) in SAP Solution Manager, including metrics, alerts, and notification templates.
- Define and enable monitoring templates for various system types
- Activate, customize, and adjust metrics in the monitoring templates based on customer requirements.
- Manage threshold values, alert categories, and notification management setup.
- Work with the Basis and OS teams to ensure proper connectivity between managed systems and Solution Manager.
- Validate and synchronize data in the Landscape Management Database (LMDB) and Solution Documentation.
- Support rollout and registration of Solution Manager agents
- Ensure end-to-end data flow between managed systems and the central monitoring infrastructure.
- Integrate alerts with the Alert Inbox and optionally with third-party ticketing systems.
- Conduct post-implementation validation and fine-tuning of alert configurations.
- Perform functional testing of monitoring setups to ensure alert accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare technical documentation, configuration guides, and handover materials
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with administrators and support engineers
Requirements
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager 7.2, focusing on Technical Monitoring, Root Cause Analysis, and Landscape Management
- Strong understanding of SAP Basis fundamentals and Solution Manager Agents
- Experience in configuring Notification Management, Alert Inbox, and Monitoring Templates
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and data collection issues between managed systems and Solution Manager
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Self-driven with ability to organize tasks with minimal supervision
- Experience with ABAP development or enhancement
- Exposure to SAP Cloud ALM or SAP Focused Run
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing systems integration
- SAP certification in Solution Manager (Operations or Application Lifecycle Management)
