Job description
Within the Data & AI Office and Academy as part of BASF's Data & AI Powerhouse, we drive BASF's overall data strategy, establish BASF's Data & AI Governance Framework and anchor responsible AI practices in our AI projects, initiatives and technology platforms. By promoting good data practices and enabling responsible AI usage, we unlock the value of data for human and machine use for our internal partners., * Governance Framework Development: Contribute to the evolution of BASF's Data & AI Governance Framework, with a strong focus on AI by bringing in your technical expertise in the field of AI and machine learning.
- Architecture & Compliance Translation: Collaborate with platform and solution architecture teams to translate regulatory obligations (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR, International Standards) into technical requirements. Align these with business value opportunities.
- Platform & Application Enablement: Partner with AI application and platform owners to embed responsible AI principles into design and architecture decisions, ensuring trustworthiness.
- Policy & Guideline Development: Develop, maintain, and facilitate AI governance policies, procedures, and guidelines, particularly around security and privacy for target groups such as AI/ML engineers, architects and developers.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Corporate Centre, Divisional Data and AI teams and BASF's Data & AI Academy team to support and facilitate the execution of AI-related guidelines and policies.
- Risk Management & Mitigation: Identify, evaluate, and manage risks-especially those related to data in AI use cases-by applying effective organizational and technical mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an ML/AI, Security or enterprise architect or in complex IT architecture.
- Degree in data science, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong background in privacy and security engineering, architecture or development practices. Preferably applied in AI.
- Experience translating AI governance frameworks into technical requirements for platforms and applications.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to AI and data.
- Structured work style in complex environments, with cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
