Job description
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a robust, scalable, and intelligent data foundation for our global payroll and payments ecosystem. What Makes This Role Exciting
This role is central to our vision of building a unified, AI-driven data platform that supports operational excellence, compliance, and innovation across all markets. Main Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the enterprise data architecture blueprint for global payroll, payments, and compliance systems.
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, metadata management, and master data management (MDM) practices.
- Lead the creation of a unified data platform (data lakehouse/warehouse) to integrate structured and unstructured data across global markets.
- Establish a data governance framework ensuring data quality, lineage, privacy, and compliance (GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.).
- Partner with business leaders to align data architecture with long-term business and AI strategies.
- Architect and optimize data pipelines to support AI/ML models for payroll forecasting, anomaly detection, compliance risk scoring, and payments optimization.
- Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to ensure data readiness for training, inference, and real-time decisioning.
- Enable semantic layers and feature stores to standardize AI input features across global datasets.
- Oversee design and development of ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Databricks).
- Champion cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to achieve scale, security, and performance.
- Define and enforce best practices for data storage, partitioning, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to implement CI/CD for data pipelines and data observability tools.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to ensure data designs meet both technical and business needs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating data strategy into measurable business outcomes.
- Lead data architecture reviews, mentor data engineers, and drive the adoption of new data tools and frameworks.
Requirements
- Solid proven experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture roles.
- Proven experience in global payroll, payments, or financial data ecosystems.
- Expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and data warehouse/lakehouse design.
- Strong hands-on experience with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse.
- Proficiency with data orchestration and transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Spark).
- Deep understanding of data governance, lineage, and compliance in a multinational environment.
- Familiarity with AI/ML data workflows, including feature engineering, data labeling, and data versioning.
Preferred
- Experience in building global financial or payroll platforms with multi-currency, multi-country data pipelines.
- Knowledge of real-time data streaming for payments and reconciliation.
- Experience with metadata management platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, DataHub).
- Hands-on experience with API-based data integrations and event-driven architectures.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields., * Taking ownership, working with integrity and respect.
- Being a team player is key to our culture.
- Solution and customer-focused.
