Job description
This position is integrated to the Service d'Expérimentation et de Développement (SED) of the Centre Inria d'Université Côte d'Azur that leads, coordinates and contributes to Inria development and experimentation activities, working with the scientists on technological actions. The engineer will be working in close collaboration with the SED engineers of Fed-BioMed software., We are looking for a motivated Web Designer / Front-End Developer to create and customize the new Fed-BioMed project website, based on an existing Jekyll template and deployed on GitHub Pages. Your work will ensure a clean, modern, and consistent identity across the website, documentation, and communication materials for the project.
Beyond technical customization, a key part of your mission will consist of writing and structuring the website's content. You will help craft clear, engaging text that conveys the software goals, value, and identity to a broad audience. Your role involves shaping the website's message through well-written content, impactful section headings, and consistent tone across pages.
Principales activités
- Select and customize a suitable Jekyll template.
- Adapt the website structure and features to our needs (main pages, news, posts, etc.).
- Write and refine website content (headlines, descriptions, project goals, explanations of features).
- Ensure that the website delivers a coherent, high-quality message to non-expert audiences.
- Create visual and interactive elements (HTML/UI components, icons, pictograms, animations).
- Contribute suggestions for the website's initial content (headlines, features, goals).
- Deliver clear documentation for non-technical users on how to update and maintain the site.
- Support visual coherence between the website and the technical documentation that requires to modify the template of the technical documentation.
- Optionally integrate a newsletter sign-up feature.
- Work with Fed-BioMed development team to deploy the website via GitHub Pages and CI.
Requirements
- Experience with static website generators (Jekyll).
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Experience with GitHub Pages and version control workflows.
- Ability to customize or extend existing templates.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and responsive design.
- Ability to write clear, simple documentation for non-technical users.
- Good communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
Preferred
- Experience with mkdocs and mkdocs-material.
- Design skills: creation of icons, pictograms, logos, or other graphical assets.
- Knowledge of SVG animation, CSS transitions, or lightweight JavaScript animation libraries.
- Experience with branding and visual identity creation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- Interest in open-source projects or scientific/technical communication.
