Job description
As Senior Linux Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping, maintaining, and evolving our Linux-based infrastructure. You will work in a cross-functional environment alongside Windows, Networking, Cloud, and Development teams, ensuring our critical systems are automated, secure, and highly available.
This is a hands-on engineering position where you will apply your expertise in Linux, automation, and configuration management to both run and build our future sites. You will also bring experience with modern DevOps practices such as containers, CI/CD, and version control, enabling collaboration and streamlined delivery across teams.
What will you do?
- Operate and improve Linux server environments across hybrid and cloud platforms.
- Automate configuration management and deployments using Chef (experience with Puppet is also valued).
- Design for scalability and resilience, ensuring systems meet high availability and security requirements.
- Contribute to patch management processes, supporting tooling strategies (so a solid Ansible foundation and experience with technologies such as Satellite, Rundeck, or equivalent).
- Support business-critical applications by working closely with development and database teams.
- Leverage containers (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes basics) to support application delivery and infrastructure evolution.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps) to streamline automation and deployments.
- Use modern version control platforms (GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar) to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Develop and maintain documentation to support smooth operations and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continuous improvement in monitoring, security hardening, and operational practices.
- Provide 3rd-line support for complex Linux-related incidents.
Requirements
- A completed HBO / Bachelor Degree and applicable certifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional.
- The ability to adopt new technologies fast.
- Proven experience as a Linux administrator or similar role, with at least 7-8 years of hands-on experience in managing Linux-based infrastructures.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Rocky).
- Strong and proven automation skills of server-based infrastructures and applications.
- Troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to analyze and resolve system issues.
- Fully proficient in English, any other European language is a plus.
