Unix Engineer

Options Technology is seeking an experienced Unix Engineer for our Belfast office. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting our Linux systems, providing technical support to customers and managing configuration management solutions. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about technology, enjoys travelling and wants to be part of a winning team., * Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot Linux systems.

• Configure and maintain Puppet configuration management solutions.
• Interface with customers to provide technical support.
• Diagnose and resolve performance and networking issues.
• Develop and maintain system documentation.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate system administration tasks.
• Research, evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
• Travel to various offices in New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

We want to hear from candidates that are motivated, self-driven and have a passion to learn and develop their skills in the world of financial technology., * 1-2 years of experience with Linux system administration.

• Professional qualifications or equivalent proven experience in a technical support role.
• Detailed working knowledge of Linux systems (RedHat, Ubuntu, Debain etc.).
• Working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, SMTP, NTP, SSH, NFS and various filesystems.
• Solid fundamentals in Linux operating systems and prior experience managing production systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills with client facing experience.
• Basic LAN/WAN and TCP/IP troubleshooting skills.
• Basic script writing experience (any of Bash, Perl, Python, etc.).
• Basic storage/SAN administration experience., * Strong research, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changeable working environment.
• Exceptional organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Desire to travel and see the world.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own projects in a professional manner.
• A passion for innovation and the financial technology sector.
• Strong interpersonal skills with client facing experience.
• Project management skills and proven ability to manage own workload.
