Job description

If you are this person a fantastic opportunity has arisen within our Steel Wire Rope Design Team for a Rope Design Engineer at Bridon Bekaert Ropes Group (a division with the Bekaert Group). This position will apply deep mechanical understanding and technical design skills with input from global specialists which will support high value operations throughout the world. We are the unique combination of technologies in steel wire ropes, synthetic ropes and advanced cords (A-Cords) enables strong differentiation in high-end markets.

I. Purpose of the Role

To develop and share rope design expertise. II. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop the skills and understanding to become one of the business's rope design experts
  • Undertake defined development projects (associated with rope design, analysis and property prediction)
  • Support the regional rope design managers with design approvals and - where appropriate - holiday cover (full training on rope design will be given)
  • Present work and share best practice within BBRG
  • With the regional rope design managers update and manage the rope design quality documents.
  • Record work in formal written reports

Requirements

  • Qualification Required: Masters/Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Experience and knowledge in computer programming (eg. C#, VBA, Matlab, PL/SQL)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The candidate should show strong developing expertise in basic management skill-sets especially planning, organizing and executing work.
  • Excellent communication skills and will regularly liaise with internal stakeholders across the group.
  • Time management and work planning.
  • Working effectively alone and within teams.
