Job description
We're looking for an AI Engineer to join our small, high-impact team. You'll design, build, and deploy AI and ML applications and the data pipelines that power them. You'll work across our core platforms, Databricks and Azure AI Foundry, and collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to turn ideas into running systems., * Build and deploy AI/ML applications and supporting data pipelines on Databricks and Azure AI Foundry
- Develop and optimise end-to-end data and model workflows (from ingestion and feature creation to inference)
- Use modern AI and ML libraries including PyTorch, Hugging Face, and the OpenAI SDK
- Create lightweight APIs and interfaces using FastAPI
- Collaborate with data engineers, ML engineers, and domain experts to rapidly prototype and iterate
- Document experiments, lessons learned, and technical patterns for reuse across the Lab community
- Contribute to a growing culture of openness, curiosity, and engineering excellence
Requirements
Essential
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience building and deploying AI/ML systems or data-driven applications
- Familiarity with Databricks, Azure AI Foundry, and broader Azure services
- Practical experience with PyTorch or similar ML frameworks
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with limited supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience with FastAPI for serving models or APIs
- Exposure to JavaScript (for front-end integrations or dashboards)
- Understanding of CI/CD, containers, and cloud-native deployment patterns
