Job description

You will lead and contribute hands-on to the development of IG's new crypto offering, balancing people management with technical delivery. You'll set the technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality, high-impact releases. This role directly influences the success of our FCA-licensed launch, requiring urgency, ownership, and a results-driven mindset., * Lead a high-performing engineering team, splitting time between coding and people management.

  • Drive the delivery of new crypto product features end-to-end, from design to production.
  • Ensure code quality, observability, scalability, and security are embedded in every release.
  • Foster a collaborative, growth-focused team culture with clear goals and high accountability.
  • Coordinate closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes.
  • Identify and remove delivery blockers, ensuring the team meets ambitious timelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a hands-on capacity (people + technical leadership).
  • Strong expertise in building cloud-native, distributed systems with Java, React/React Native, and AWS.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality software at speed in regulated or high-stakes environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritisation, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to security-first engineering practices, especially in fintech/crypto contexts.
  • Growth mindset with the ability to mentor, inspire, and develop engineering talent.
