Job description
NRL, on behalf of global Biotech client are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Laboratory Support Assistant to support the smooth running of our laboratory facilities. This is focussed on a variety of operational tasks, including inventory management, maintenance/sterilisation of equipment, and reagent preparation, helping to ensure the lab remains organised, compliant, and efficient. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, reliable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Key Responsibilities:
Inventory & Stock Control:

Maintain accurate stock levels of basic consumables and reagents.

Conduct regular inventory spot checks and implement corrective actions.

Restock laboratory supplies and maintain dry ice stock.

Organize routine shipments and deliveries.
Facility Maintenance:

Tidy and organize freezers, ensuring stock is up to date.

Clean incubators according to a recorded rota.

Assist in general upkeep and organization of storerooms and labs.

Manage lab coat dry cleaning logistics.
Waste Management:

Clear waste cardboard and plastics bins regularly.

Help manage various waste streams including clinical, chemical, general, and recycling.
Sample Management:

Perform aliquoting of reagents as required.

Receive and check in new stock and reagents.
Equipment & Systems Support:

Run weekly system checks on Flow cytometers.

Assist equipment engineers and contractors during on-site visits.

Support external IT management contractors with necessary checks and updates.
Team Support:
- Provide support to team and liaise with park in absence of Laboratory Operations Manager
Requirements

Minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including core subject: Combined Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English

High level of numeracy - able to carry out molarity and dilution calculations

Being able to work as part of a team

IT proficient - ability to use spreadsheets

Good attention to detail

High level of self-motivation, ability to work independently and take initiative.

Previous experience in a laboratory or operational support role preferred.
