Job description
We're seeking a senior technical leader to own end-to-end solution design across our new Core Services and our existing products, while supporting new ventures. You'll translate business outcomes into scalable, secure, and operable designs for a modular, containerised, microservices platform running in a multi-cloud, multi-ledger environment. You'll partner closely with product, engineering leads, DevOps/SRE, and commercial stakeholders to de-risk delivery and accelerate value., Platform & Solution Design
- Define target architectures, service contracts, data flows, and non-functional requirements across Core Services and product squads.
- Produce ADRs, reference designs, and golden paths for APIs, events, and data.
- Guide engineers through discovery * design * build * rollout for complex initiatives.
Technical Stewardship
- Champion multi-tenant patterns, API-first design, and stateless, horizontally scalable services.
- Ensure smooth CI/CD, observability, and operability in partnership with DevOps/SRE.
- Promote performance, cost, and reliability trade-offs with clear rationale.
Security, Reliability & Compliance
- Embed security-by-design (mTLS/service mesh, secret management, Vault/HSM/KMS).
- Shape resilience patterns (active-active, failover, DR/RPO/RTO objectives) and drive drills.
- Align designs with ISO/IEC and GDPR requirements in collaboration with Security & Compliance.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with Product Owners to break outcomes into epics/stories with crisp acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate dependencies across our core products and services; unblock delivery teams.
- Lead design reviews, stakeholder updates, and demo/readout sessions.
Roadmap & Standards
-
Maintain the platform design roadmap; sunset legacy patterns and introduce new standards.
-
Curate reusable blueprints, starter repos, and documentation for internal consumers.
-
Partner & Customer Solutions
-
Support solution shaping for key partners/customers, ensuring fit to platform guardrails.
-
Define onboarding patterns for integrations, SDKs, and external developer experiences.
Technical Domains You'll Work With
- Cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitOps/Argo CD, Vault/HSM)
- Platform services (API Gateway, RBAC/SSO, rate limiting, policy enforcement)
- Event-driven integration (REST/gRPC, idempotency, NATS JetStream and/or Kafka)
- Observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, alerting/runbooks)
- Multi-region resilience (traffic steering, failover, DR testing)
- Data & storage (PostgreSQL/Distributed SQL, object storage/S3, caching/Redis)
- Identity & trust (OIDC/OAuth2, DID/VC, signing flows)
- Tokens & wallets (custody patterns, fee engines, ledger adapters for BSV/EVM/others)
Requirements
Must-Have
- 7+ years leading complex solution/design work for platform or product ecosystems (SaaS/PaaS).
- Hands-on depth with cloud-native microservices, API design (REST/gRPC), and eventing.
- Proven delivery of security-by-design and multi-region resilience patterns at scale.
- Fluency in CI/CD and operability (GitOps, infrastructure as code, SLOs/SLIs).
- Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration across product, engineering leads, DevOps/SRE, Security, and PMO.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with digital identity, signing pipelines, and/or blockchain/ledger adapters.
- Background in regulated environments (fintech/govtech/healthtech).
- Exposure to cost modelling, multi-tenant billing/quotas, and platform productisation.
- Proficiency in Go or Java for prototyping/reference implementations.
- Certifications in cloud, security, or agile delivery.
