Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cyber Security Engineer to join our central IT team at Cabot Learning Federation. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of our cyber security systems and services, safeguarding the Trust's digital infrastructure and supporting thousands of learners and educators across our academies.

You'll lead on Trust-wide cyber security strategy and operations, proactively monitor and respond to threats, and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure our systems are secure, resilient, and aligned with best practice. From penetration testing and phishing simulations to policy development and incident response, your work will be central to protecting the digital experience of our community., In this role, you'll be a key part of our Central IT Team - responsible for delivering secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions across the trust. You'll have the opportunity to shape cyber security strategy, work with cutting-edge tools, and contribute to a mission-driven organisation that values digital safety in education.

Requirements

You will have:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of cyber security across networking, Windows domains, and cloud environments, including Active Directory, Office 365, PowerShell, SIEM platforms, and anti-malware systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing and managing security systems, conducting penetration tests, phishing simulations, and supporting eDiscovery investigations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to advise stakeholders at all levels, translate complex risks into actionable insights, and lead collaborative security initiatives across the Trust.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of managing conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and continuous improvement, with a focus on supporting education through secure and effective technology.
  • Relevant qualifications, including a Level 6 Cyber Security Technical Professional Degree (or working towards it), or equivalent experience.
