Job description
Elevations Design & Projects team are working with a market leading manufacturing business looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer (on a 3-6 month contract basis) to join a dynamic design team, focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This role covers the full design lifecycle, from initial concept and development through to manufacturing and commissioning, requiring a hands-on approach and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams., * Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation to industry standards.
- Work closely with electrical, software, and production teams to ensure cohesive and practical design solutions.
- Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA activities.
- Provide technical support during machine build, commissioning, and testing phases.
- Review and improve existing designs based on operational feedback and cost efficiency.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding manufactured parts and material specifications.
- Ensure design data is managed and maintained using a document control system (e.g. Vault).
Requirements
- Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, desirable
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (Solidworks is essential)
- Experience in machinery design & development and or automated processes/machinery is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings to BS/ISO standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with pneumatics and/or motion control is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Vault or similar data management systems.
