PHP Web Developer

We're looking for a PHP Web Developer to take the lead on architecting, developing, and optimising bespoke digital projects for clients across hospitality, retail, property, sport, and food & drink. Based in, you'll work side by side with designers and strategists to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions that push performance and creativity forward. This is more than just writing code - it's about setting technical direction, solving complex problems, and shaping the future of our growing Digital team.

What you'll do

• Translate creative design concepts into functional, user-focused websites
• Lead client projects from concept to launch, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
• Collaborate directly with clients, explaining technical decisions in plain language
• Maintain and optimise existing client sites, adding features and solving challenges
• Help define technical strategy, tooling, and coding standards for the team
• Mentor junior developers and share best practices

• Proven experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript (incl. jQuery), CSS (SCSS & Tailwind)
• Strong UX awareness and the ability to bring design concepts to life
• Experience owning projects end-to-end - from scoping to deployment
• Confidence with Git and modern development workflows
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills

Desirable:

• WordPress and/or Shopify (Basic / Advanced / Plus)
• Modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, TypeScript)
• Figma for design collaboration
• Agency or multi-client project experience
• Linux servers and SEO best practices
• Supporting and guiding junior developers
